Unlock the Ardra Crater encounter

Load a cleared-game save and follow the new airship scene directing you to Ardra Crater, in the southeastern part of the world map. Interact with Ultima Weapon there when your party is prepared. Reaching the ending is the access condition; defeating the optional boss is a separate trophy objective.

Match the current mode

The community data reference records four variants. The encounter guide associates them with the following vulnerability pairs:

Mode Elements to inspect for the opening
Modus Infernus Wind, Water
Modus Keraunos Ice, Earth
Modus Cocytus Fire, Light
Modus Nemea Lightning, Dark

Check the current mode each time it changes. The opening Wind/Water pair is not a permanent weakness for the whole fight. Do not keep spending MP on a memorized opening after the resistance has changed.

Reserve a response to Ultima Beam

The encounter guide identifies Ultima Beam as a major threat and describes interrupting it with Stagger. Plan against the timeline: check whether the party can complete the stagger before that action, while preserving the recovery needed if the plan falls short.

PowerPyx documents a different defensive approach built around Sakura’s Eternal Veil, with Fina supplying Limit Burst gauge through healing and Entrust. That is a setup with specific learned abilities, rather than a free action every party automatically has. Inspect the relevant skills before relying on it.

Build a repeatable attempt

  1. Restore resources, save and verify your equipped passives.
  2. Assign recovery and elemental coverage before entering Ardra Crater.
  3. Read the active mode and choose matching attacks.
  4. Check the major-attack timing before spending the healer’s action offensively.
  5. Re-establish recovery after a mode change, then continue the damage cycle.

If an attempt fails, record whether the cause was missing elemental coverage, an ailment or an unanswered major attack. That identifies the Vision or equipment task worth completing before another attempt.
