Why bring two attack elements?

Mindflayer is weak to Earth; its two Mind Elementals are weak to Fire and nullify Ice. This level-28 Olderion cave is a multi-enemy encounter. A boss-only Earth plan leaves the escorts active and makes a sweeping Stagger harder to arrange.

Prepare Earth magic, Fire for the escorts, magic protection and a recovery user protected from Paralysis. Game8 specifically recommends Jeweled Rings obtained in Amore for the Paralysis problem. Inspect the accessory description and your available stock before the fight.

Clear the escorts safely

  1. Protect the party against magic and establish ailment prevention.
  2. Damage the Mind Elementals with Fire. Heal before delivering their finishing blows: their death response can include Blizzaga. Killing a fragile escort is not automatically a safe turn.
  3. Once the escorts are gone, concentrate Earth damage on Mindflayer and watch the action timeline.
  4. Try to stop Mind Blast with Stagger. If it lands, address Paralysis, Silence and Poison before assuming the affected ally can cast the next heal.

Can you rely on Esuna alone?

Prepare prevention as well as cures. Game8 includes Esuna in its recovery setup; another English boss list claims it does not work here. The compared sources do not establish that blanket restriction, so this guide does not repeat it as fact. Use an available, applicable cure and check the actual remaining ailment icons.

Remove Faith when possible, and preserve MP for the final stretch. Return to the Cave Master directory after confirming the win.
