Which element should you bring?

Use Water and avoid Fire, which Pyroviper nullifies. This Zoldaad Cave Master has an entrance recommendation of level 37. Prepare more than one usable Water action if a single disabled caster would otherwise stop all effective damage.

Nichol’s Water magic is an option when learned. The important preparation is the actual command and its availability, not simply putting a Water-themed character in the party.

Survive its two-action turns

  1. Prepare magic protection for Burn to Ashes, a party-wide Fire attack. Available Fire resistance can supplement that protection.
  2. Keep physical defense relevant too: the boss can follow magic with heavy physical pressure, including multi-hit attacks.
  3. Reduce the gauge with Water and try to interrupt the Burn to Ashes warning.
  4. If the warning cannot be stopped, defend or reinforce the party before it resolves. Heal with enough margin for a second action rather than treating the first hit as the end of the turn.

What if the intended healer cannot act?

Charge can cause Paralysis. Bring a cure usable by another active ally, and do not queue every recovery responsibility onto the same character. If your formation survives the Fire attack but falls to the following physical hit, revise both defenses rather than add another offensive spell.

A fully equipped Water damage dealer and protected recovery role are more useful than an unsupported high-damage Fire finisher. The combat guide explains how command type, element and Stagger work together.
