Why did Ice stop being the right plan?

The first Hunger encounter is weak to Ice; the revived version is weak to Light. Recheck the target after the story transition. The new health bar is not simply the same enemy with the same affinity restored.

Lasswell supplies early Ice access. Fina’s Light attacks and Leah’s Banish provide options for the rematch, depending on your equipped commands. Keep recovery available for the second encounter instead of treating the first apparent victory as the end of Kolobos Ruins.

Prepare for the rematch’s escorts

The revived enemy appears with Enhanced Wraith Soldiers, which are also vulnerable to Light. An available Light command can therefore help both the main target and the escorts, but target selection still matters.

The encounter reference describes renewed allies when the boss is left alone. Repeatedly clearing every escort without progressing the boss can keep you in a reinforcement loop. Reduce incoming pressure, then concentrate the next damage opening on The Hunger.

Fight the two encounters deliberately

  1. Use Ice and available recovery in the first battle.
  2. Let the revival scene resolve and inspect the new enemy set.
  3. Change to Light for the revived Hunger and its escorts.
  4. Preserve a recovery action around Gravity and the rematch’s Poison pressure.
  5. Work toward a Stagger opening on the main threat instead of spending the entire fight resetting escorts.

Gravity and Poison do not ask for the same response. Recover lost HP before a follow-up threatens to finish an ally, and use the appropriate Poison cure rather than assuming healing removes it.

Does the castle Umbra strategy apply here?

This fight is winnable and required; it is not another scripted defeat. Complete the prisoner-rescue scenes afterward and return to Grandport. The chapter-1 walkthrough then leads to Siren’s Tower. Later Lazarov experiments use related names, but their elements should be read separately in the Lazarov guide.
