Use Ice attacks, keep Typhon’s Stagger gauge close to breaking and trigger the break when Snort threatens to remove a party member. Typhon is level 35 with 75,000 HP and a 600-point Stagger gauge in the reviewed references. It resists Wind, so a Wind-heavy formation makes both the break and the damage race less reliable.
The practical formation is two Ice users, one reliable healer and a fourth character who can support either role. Lasswell supplies native Ice options. A second character can equip an available Ice-capable Vision; use the abilities you have actually learned rather than assuming a late Mastery Rank command is present.
What does Snort do?
Snort removes one character from the battle instead of dealing ordinary recoverable damage. A Stagger cancels the action, which makes gauge control the fight’s main safety mechanic.
Do not spend the entire gauge as soon as a break becomes available if the party is stable. Keeping Typhon near the threshold gives you a response when Snort appears. If one character is essential for both healing and Ice pressure, move one of those jobs to another party member before the flight.
Respond to Typhon’s other actions
| Typhon action | Response |
|---|---|
| Bite | Heal the targeted character without abandoning Ice pressure. |
| Fira | Use party healing and available magic protection; this is a group hit. |
| FUNGHA! | Treat the self-buff as an incoming damage warning. Stabilize before continuing an all-out attack. |
| Snort | Break the Stagger gauge before the removal resolves. |
Exact turn order and damage vary with difficulty, levels, gear and Vision mastery. The repeatable rule is elemental: Ice accelerates both damage and Stagger, while Wind is resisted.
How do you unlock the Typhon fight?
Typhon is the combat gate near the end of Lid’s Beyond the Blue quest:
- Start with the chairman at Dilmagia Shipyard in chapter 5.
- Take the left elevator at Mobliz Shipyard and recover the blueprints from the northwestern objective.
- Return the plans at Dilmagia Shipyard.
- Speak with Evan aboard the Enterprise to begin the flight sequence.
- Defeat Typhon, then return to the chairman.
The final report awards Chocobo Nitro and Lid’s permanent +100 HP, +30 MP, +25 Strength and +25 Magic bonuses. Winning the battle without completing the final conversation does not finish the personal quest.
