Which Aether encounter are you facing?

Aether is fought at Wind Shrine in chapter 2 and again during the chapter-7 Pharm airship sequence. Sid is the character’s story identity, not a second boss who needs a duplicate guide. Match your location and current chapter before using a strategy.

Both references identify Ice as useful. The earlier fight’s HP, rewards and action timing are not reused here as if they described the stronger rematch.

Chapter 2: prepare Ice and recovery

Lasswell provides Ice, and an equipped Vision such as Tronn or Terra can offer another source. Confirm the available commands before entering the shrine’s final encounter. Wind is ineffective against Aether, so do not rely on a powerful Wind command simply because the crystal and area share that element.

Keep a healer available and use magic protection for the Wind pressure. Heavenly Wind is the devastating attack to watch. If its warning appears and a Stagger is within reach, interrupt it; otherwise prepare for the hit and the recovery action afterward.

Clear summons without losing boss pressure

Aether’s added enemies are also vulnerable to Ice. Use the target list and their gauges to control incoming pressure while continuing to advance the main boss’s Stagger.

A party that spends every action recovering from surviving summons may never exploit its damage opening. Conversely, ignoring those targets while the healer is overwhelmed can collapse the attempt before the boss breaks. Reassess the field after each summon instead of following a fixed turn script.

Chapter 7: the Pharm airship rematch

The later confrontation happens while searching for the displaced Dark Crystal. Refresh the party aboard the Enterprise, bring current Ice and recovery options, and inspect the rematch’s actual warning and available targets. This is a required victory, unlike chapter 1’s scripted Umbra battle.

Finish the scenes afterward and go to Sian for Ayaka’s information. The Pharm chapter route continues overland; the tornado prevents a direct landing on Wandering Lands.
