How do you unlock Bahamut’s airship event?

Obtain the other eight Espers, progress through chapter 7’s Mt. Reizan events and board or rest aboard the Enterprise. After the calling scene, speak with Evan near the controls and agree to visit the Esper. Win the resulting trial to recruit Bahamut.

The other eight are Siren, Ramuh, Carbuncle, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan and Odin. Use the acquisition directory to check the actual reward condition for each, especially quests with a final conversation.

Why does Evan have no Esper option?

Check those gates in order:

1. Story progress: continue through the Mt. Reizan events in chapter 7.
2. Acquisitions: finish every other unlock. For Odin, speak to the Old Man after the Shadow fight; for Leviathan, finish Nichol’s Duty at Lake Dorr.
3. Airship scene: enter or rest aboard the Enterprise and allow the calling sequence to complete.
4. Evan: speak to him by the controls after the scene.

Published summaries differ on the earliest chapter label. This guide uses the chapter-7 route supported by the acquisition references; it does not promise that merely getting the airship is enough.

What should you use against Bahamut?

Bahamut has no ordinary elemental weakness. The encounter reference describes an elemental storage-and-retaliation mechanic, making non-elemental attacks a useful way to avoid feeding that response. Read the actual element of each equipped command, including Limit Bursts.

Keep recovery ready and watch for Paralysis. Bahamut can also undermine party buffs with his wind attacks; restore the relevant defenses when needed rather than assuming the opening setup lasts throughout the fight.

How do you handle the Megaflare countdown?

Watch the countdown and preserve the commands needed to force a Stagger before it expires. The documented trial uses Megaflare when the timer reaches zero; a timely break can interrupt the devastating attack. If it lands, recover the party before spending the next sequence entirely on damage.

This plan does not assume a fixed party level or number of turns. Check the timeline again after each break, heal or incapacitation.
