Should you stop using Fire because it counters?

Fire remains the weakness, but repeated weakness hits can trigger Counter Vines. Malboro Menace also reacts to rapid gauge reduction. Its level-60 Pharm cave asks for a party that can survive those responses, not simply the largest number of Fire hits.

The enemy trait reports one fewer action after a counter. That does not make the counter harmless or establish an exact safe hit count. Prepare physical protection, ailment prevention, Fire damage and more than one way to recover.

A safer offensive cycle

  1. Heal and protect the party before committing a major gauge-reduction turn.
  2. Use Fire while watching the counter and enemy action order. Reassess after a reaction instead of assuming the rest of a long queue is safe.
  3. Try to interrupt Putrid Breath. If it lands, repair control ailments before relying on the affected characters.
  4. Keep enough HP and recovery for Whack and Smack, a dangerous multi-hit physical attack against random targets.

Prioritize the recovery role

Putrid Breath can spread Poison, Blind, Silence, Confuse and Sleep. An HP heal alone does not return the party to working order. Protect the support role before the breath, then use an unaffected ally’s applicable item or cure after it.

Do not plan to control the boss with common status ailments: the compared entry lists broad immunity. Continue deliberate Fire pressure once stable, then verify the actual win before checking the fifteen-master trophy.
