This is the optional Rogue Magitek Weapon in Dragon’s Maw on Pharm, not the prologue’s Cutting Edge Magitek Weapon. Prepare for a full-party encounter after Pharm becomes accessible; the opening story battle does not describe this enemy’s health, abilities or required formation.
Save before engaging the visible enemy and restore MP. Escape is unavailable in the selected reference. The dungeon also contains other dangerous roaming encounters, so arriving with depleted resources is an avoidable disadvantage.
What elements should you bring?
Use Lightning or Water. Dark is ineffective, while Fire, Ice, Wind and Earth are resisted. Nichol’s Water and Sakura’s Lightning commands are possible answers; Jake can also provide learned Lightning damage. Inspect the equipped command rather than excluding or choosing an entire character solely by their default element.
After Intangir, explicitly rebuild the offensive slots: its safe Dark magic is not the answer to this machine.
How do Haywire and Overheat change your turn?
Haywire increases the enemy’s action count. Protect recovery through the accelerated phase; use the actual Overheat state as the opening. Overheat ends Haywire and leaves the machine unable to act for a turn. The references do not establish a universal turn on which either skill must occur.
- Establish protection and keep the healer healthy before spending several actions on damage.
- During Haywire, reserve an available cure or revival action. Sleep Gas and Blaster can disrupt a single-healer plan even when raw HP is sufficient.
- When Overheat appears, check whether the party needs emergency recovery first. If stable, use the window for efficient Water or Lightning pressure and available Limit Bursts.
- Re-establish the defensive setup before the enemy returns to full activity. An offensive opening is not a permanent shutdown.
How do you answer Wave Cannon?
Stagger can cancel the warned devastating Wave Cannon. Read the current gauge and action order before committing. If you cannot complete the interrupt in time, keep magic protection and recovery available rather than consuming the remaining actions on a failed damage race.
Blaster has an Instant Death effect. Bring appropriate ordinary death protection, or ready Reraise and revival where available. A sleeping healer also needs an answer from another ally; do not count on an enemy physical hit waking the correct person at the right time.
What does a successful preparation look like?
The party can deal useful damage through both the active and overheated states, recover without depending on one vulnerable character, and respond to Wave Cannon. It does not require an invented exact damage target or guaranteed turn count. If the accelerated phase repeatedly defeats the party, improve protection and recovery before adding another damage-only slot.
